The VBeam® is a Pulsed Dye Laser that delivers an intense but gentle burst of light to targeted areas for treatment of facial veins, brown spots, leg veins, rosacea, warts, poikiloderma, and port wine stains. The laser light is absorbed by blood vessels or pigment, and they are selectively destroyed without damaging surrounding tissue.
Des Moines Laser Center offers tattoo removal with the Palomar Q-Yag 5™ Laser. Mixed wavelengths allow for treatment of multiple ink colors. Pulses of highly concentrated laser light are absorbed by the pigment in tattoo inks. The light heats the area and breaks down the ink into tiny particles. The body carries away the residual ink particles, causing the tattoo to fade or completely disappear. Laser tattoo removal is less painful and damaging than complete excision or dermabrasion to the area. It is more effective than cream removal products or camouflage.
Des Moines Plastic Surgery is proud to offer the most effective laser hair removal lasers for our patients, the Lumenis LightSheer Duet. This laser is state-of-the-art with a high speed laser hand piece for 75% faster treatments which is particular useful for large areas such as the back, shoulders, and legs. Also, this laser utilizes an integrated chill tip on the handpiece resulting in 75% less discomfort with this laser system. The integrated vacuum assist also allows for better results and fewer treatments compared to other laser systems. The laser provides permanent hair reduction on most skin types. It delivers an intense but gentle burst of light to the targeted area. The laser is attracted to the pigment in the hair follicle so it is important to avoid sun exposure to the treated area approximately 4-6 weeks prior to treatment.
