Dr. Robbins is a board certified plastic surgeon and is the Medical Director of The Laser Center at Des Moines Plastic Surgery. We offer the latest technology in laser treatments. All lasers are either performed by Dr Robbins himself or one of his highly qualified staff members. Unlike many other “laser centers” that do not have an onsite supervising physician, at Des Moines Plastic surgery your comfort and safety is of the utmost importance.

Laser Procedures at Des Moines Plastic Surgery

Skin Rejuvenation and Resurfacing provides wrinkle reduction, acne scar reduction, and collagen remodeling which improves the pigmentation and skintone.

The Lumenis UltraPulse Skin Rejuvenation and Resurfacing CO2 Laser (Active FX, Deep FX, and Total FX) is used for a more invasive treatment, but less downtime. Laser resurfacing involves the ActiveFX, DeepFX, or the TotalFX. The Laser Center at Des Moines Plastic Surgery is the first and only plastic surgery practice in Iowa to purchase these lasers. This laser system is a long-lasting, single treatment approach for wrinkles, dark spots, sun damage, scars and other skin irregularities. In addition, this laser system will stimulate the formation of new collagen to provide better elasticity and support for the skin.

Laser Hair Removal has become one of the most popular nonsurgical procedures performed at The Laser Center of Des Moines Plastic Surgery. The most common areas treated include the upper lip, cheeks, chin, neck, chest, legs, back, and bikini area.

The Laser Center at Des Moines Plastic Surgery now has the NEW LightSheer Duet which offers a revolutionizing approach to laser hair removal. Laser hair removal, a popular solution for unwanted body hair, has been limited in the past by the patient’s need to invest valuable time and accept treatment discomfort to achieve desired results. These limitations can be significant when treating larger body areas such as shoulders and backs, chests or legs. At The Laser Center we have radically changed the patient experience of laser hair removal. The NEW High Speed LightSheer Duet with its dramatically increased spot size of 22 mm x 35 mm combined with innovative vacuum-assist technology enables Dr. Robbins to treat larger areas such as backs and legs comfortably in about 15-20 minutes, without topical anesthetics and treatment gel.

Laser Tattoo Removal is the process of using a laser to deliver light of specific wavelengths to break up the tattoo in the skin.

The Laser Center at Des Moines Plastic Surgery is one of the only plastic surgery practices in Iowa to offer laser tattoo removal. In a recent study it is estimated that 15% of adults have tattoos. It is estimated that 50% of those receiving tattoos will want to have them removed within 10 years of their application. This is a large and rapidly growing market. The Laser Center at Des Moines Plastic Surgery offers tattoo removal with the Palomar Q-Yag 5™ Laser. This laser delivers light of specific wavelengths in ultra-short, very high peak energy pulses which are absorbed by the pigment in the tattoo and result in an acoustic shockwave. The shockwave shatters the pigment particles causing them to break into fragments small enough for removal by the body. These tiny particles are then eliminated by the body. Mixed wavelengths allow for treatment of multiple ink colors. Pulses of highly concentrated laser light are absorbed by the pigment in tattoo inks.
