Brazilian Butt Lift Des Moines

What is a Brazilian Butt Lift?

A Brazilian butt lift is a butt augmentation procedure that uses liposuction to harvest fat from one or more areas of the body, and inject it into the butt cheeks and the outer hips. It can address a range of concerns, including flat or sagging buttocks, asymmetry, or other disproportions sometimes due to massive weight loss.

What Is Fat Transfer?

The procedure involves removal of your own fat by liposuction from one part of your body (usually the abdomen or hips) and then injecting the fat into another region of the body. The fat is used to restore volume and fullness or to soften and diminish lines and wrinkles. Loss of volume and fine lines and wrinkles are most noticeable as aging occurs and most often seen in the face. Fat can be transferred in very small amounts for areas such as the face or in larger volumes for areas of fat transfer such as the buttocks (Brazilian Butt Lift), the female breasts, and in conjunction with high definition 4D liposculpture which involves sculpting the muscles and anatomy and augmenting muscle groups with fat transfer. High Definition 4D liposculpture is most commonly performed on the abdominal muscles, male pectoral muscles, and arms.

The procedure for fat transfer and injections involves a three-step process. Initially, fat is removed using liposuction most commonly from the abdomen, flanks or thighs. Next, the fat is isolated and concentrated using the REVOLVE™ System. Fat is a living, viable cell and must be handled with precision and care otherwise the fat cell will not survive transfer to another part of the body and will be resorbed. The REVOLVE™ System results in purified fat grafts that are ideal for transfer and survivability.  The REVOLVE™ System can be used to transfer small or large volume of fat depending on the goals of treatment. The last step involves precisely injecting the purified fat into the treatment areas using special fat grafting cannulas.

What Is The REVOLVE™ System At Des Moines Plastic Surgery™?

The REVOLVE™ System is a state-of-the-art fat grafting system that allows Dr. Robbins to transfer fat that is more than 97% contaminant-free. Harvesting of fat with liposuction can damage fat cells which results in the release of lipid oil that if re-injected with fat transfer, can cause the fat to not survive in its new location. Likewise, any blood that is not removed prior to reinjection can decrease fat graft survival. The REVOLVE™ System provides a reliable fat purification method because of its patented filtration technology. REVOLVE™ reduces more than 97% of captured lipid, blood, and other fluids resulting in a more purified fat graft for best survivability. Dr. Robbins can also combine fat grafting with Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) to increase survivability and restoration of youthful volume.

Fat can be harvested and be transferred anywhere in the body by Dr. Robbins but some of the more popular areas include:

  • Breasts: REVOLVE™ fat grafting can be used for natural breast augmentation in patients who do not wish to have implants. Best candidates are those women with good skin elasticity who desire a small increase in breast size. REVOLVE™ fat grafting can also be used with breast implants to fill in any contour irregularities or minor asymmetries after the implants are placed. Dr. Robbins can also place fat grafts in the “upper pole” of the breast to restore lost volume due to pregnancy and breast feeding.
  • Face: Fat can be injected into areas such as smile lines, forehead and frown lines to soften these lines and can also be injected into the cheeks to replace lost volume with aging.
  • Buttocks: REVOLVE™ fat processing can be used in the buttocks to increase volume and improve shape (Brazilian Butt Lift). Buttocks lifts with implants can be unpredictable and have a history of many potential complications. Fat grafting does not use an implant and is a natural, predictable, and safe method for buttocks augmentation offered at Des Moines Plastic Surgery™

For more than 30 years, the American Board of Cosmetic Surgery (ABCS) has been dedicated to excellence in the medical specialty of cosmetic surgery and committed to providing the highest standard of care to our patients.

As the only certifying board that exclusively tests a surgeon’s knowledge and experience in cosmetic surgery, ABCS board certification is reserved for extraordinary surgeons who already possess at least one recognized board certificate, complete a comprehensive AACS certified fellowship training program in cosmetic surgery, and pass rigorous written and oral exams. In reality, many cosmetic or plastic surgeons do not qualify to take the ABCS board exam because of the very strict qualifications they must meet.

Dr. Robbins is Board Certified by the ABCS and has been since 2013.

The American Board of Laser Surgery (ABLS) was founded in 1984 by physicians, physicists and other medical practitioners from various fields who were experienced in the fundamental science and clinical applications of lasers. They shared a concern for the safe and efficacious use of lasers in medicine and surgery. They believed that the increasing complexity and utilization of lasers in treating patients had created a need for the establishment of key standards of knowledge, competence, and experience for those who used lasers in medicine.

Many individual physicians, hospital administrators, chairmen of credentialing committees, and other concerned persons expressed a desire for an organization that would fulfill these needs. In doing so, they recognized that lasers are sophisticated instruments requiring special knowledge and experience for safe and effective use in surgery and other medical procedures.

From the very beginning of the era of lasers in clinical use, iatrogenic, laser-related injuries and deaths were occurring among patients. This was the incentive for the founding of the American Board of Laser Surgery. Today, deaths are rare, but burns, complications and sub-optimal outcomes are still all too common.

The Mission of the ABLS is to educate and credential as many qualified laser and light practitioners as possible to ensure the efficacious and safe outcomes for patients.

Dr. Robbins is certified by the ABLS in Cosmetic Laser Surgery and has been since 2013.

Meeting Dr. David Robbins

This is the customer’s opportunity to ask any and all questions. It is also Dr. Robbins’ opportunity to ask you questions as well. Every conversation should be open and honest because surgery is a big deal and both parties involved want the best outcome with the best experience possible. You should be expected to talk about the following:

What you want to change about your body, and why you want to change it?
How you feel about your body now, and how you would like to feel after plastic surgery?
Your goals: what do you want to look like after surgery, what specific changes would you like to see?
Which procedure(s), if any, can help you achieve your goals?
What results you can expect from each procedure?
What’s involved in the surgery (anesthesia type, incisions, recovery timeframe)?
The risks and possible complications from surgery?
Review your medical history (be open and honest for your safety).
