What happens during recovery?
Once you are released from care at Des Moines Plastic Surgery™, you will need the assistance of a friend or relative for the first few days. It’s normal to experience some numbness, stiffness and discomfort, which will make it difficult to perform normal activities like talking, eating or smiling. A combination of prescription pain medication and cold compresses should make this temporary discomfort manageable.

When can I resume my normal routines?
Most patients feel up to returning to work and other normal routines within a week of surgery. Strenuous physical activity and heavy lifting should be avoided from a few weeks to a month until you have progressed in your healing.

What are some of the risks associated with chin surgery?
Complications are uncommon, but may include prolonged healing, implant movement, numbness, infection or adverse reaction to anesthesia. Dr. Robbins and his staff will discuss these risks with you in-depth during the cosmetic consultation process.
